We went to New Orleans, Louisiana in late June & early July of 2006, staying on Canal right across from the French Quarter - most of the hurricane mess was cleaned up & despite all you hear about crime in the area at the time, there was nowhere we felt unsafe. We went on several tours; vampire, ghost, voodoo, haunted house, cemetery & a steamship on the river. We went to the Civil War museum, the D-Day museum, a GI Joe convention & an aquarium. Of all those things, I think the French Quarter itself was our favorite.
